Pinal County officials announced on Wednesday that they have successfully completed the design phase for the ambitious Heritage Road project, which aims to bolster the transportation infrastructure in the San Tan Valley area.

The project, which is focused on the roadway between Hunt Highway and North Felix Road, seeks to create a continuous east-west route for better regional access. A crucial link for the several existing and upcoming residential neighborhoods, Heritage Road is set to accommodate more than 2,500 homesites.

The design phase involved a thorough study of all relevant local factors, ensuring the development of a practical and environmentally-responsible design. The study's purpose was to inform future construction and promote improvements.

The study set out to create a roadmap that not only ensures optimal travel times but also ensures safety for all travelers, including pedestrians and cyclists. It also took into account the environmental impacts and prepared for future growth, demonstrating the foresight necessary for such a significant infrastructure project. A highlight of the design is a bridge for traffic to bypass trains, enhancing the smooth flow of traffic.

"We have approached this project with a comprehensive vision," said a Pinal County spokesperson. "Not only are we considering the immediate needs of our residents and road users, but we are also putting in place a design that will cater to the future growth of the region."

Moreover, the interests of local landowners and stakeholders have been respected throughout the process. The county conducted numerous consultations and community feedback sessions, ensuring a transparent and inclusive planning process.

The proposed future layout of Heritage Road includes two lanes per direction for cars, a center turn lane, bicycle lanes, and sidewalks — a design indicative of a well-rounded, multimodal transportation approach.

As a next step, residents and interested parties are invited to review the final design report to gain a deeper understanding of the project. The report details the recommended improvements and is accessible at this link.

The completion of the design phase is a significant milestone in the Heritage Road project. Pinal County remains committed to building a better-connected, safer, and sustainable community for all of its residents.

With the design phase now completed, residents of San Tan Valley and stakeholders can look forward to seeing the first signs of construction in the near future, heralding a new era of improved transport and connectivity in the area.

The Heritage Road project is a testament to Pinal County's ongoing efforts to provide high-quality infrastructure to its growing population and communities.
